The Hôtel Orphée is at 4 boulevard Saint-Marcel, on the 5th-arrondissement side of the boulevard, about 250 metres from the enclosure of the Jardin des Plantes. Saint-Marcel on line 5 is three minutes’ walk and the Gare d’Austerlitz, for lines 5 and 10 and the RER C, six. It belongs to Orso Hotels, which describes ten Paris hotels as a family: Ami, Blanca, Cabane, Dalila, Doisy, Folie, Léopold, Orphée, Rochechouart and Wallace.

Hammam, bar and rooms

The hammam is the distinctive feature: red-tiled, private, bookable by the hour and, as the hotel presents it, free to guests. No treatments are described. A bar, the comptoir d’Orphée, serves cocktails all day, and a small sunny terrace is open to guests for breakfast, tea and cocktails. The furniture is by Maison Roches, and the hotel says nearly all rooms have a private balcony.

All rooms are air-conditioned and two on the ground floor are accessible. The hotel has its own car park, charged by the day, and takes small pets. Capacity is tight: two guests and a baby per room, no extra bed. There is no restaurant, and for exercise the hotel offers a paid partnership with a gym, Neoness. It holds the Clef Verte label, awarded in 2023.
