We took the coordinates of the Luxembourg Gardens and of each of the 110 hotels in our base, calculated the distance between them and kept the fifteen shortest. The order is the order of that measurement. The reference is the single point the gardens have in OpenStreetMap, in the middle of the park rather than at a gate, so a hotel on the Odéon side is measured to the same point as one by the Observatoire. The ranking therefore says which hotels are closest to that point, not which are nearest a gate; the Observatoire Luxembourg, for example, says it faces the garden yet comes eighth. Our base covers the Latin Quarter and its fringe, not every hotel of the 6th.
Walking times are estimates: the straight-line distance multiplied by 1.3 for the street pattern, rounded to 50 metres, then divided by 80 metres a minute. All fifteen are between 334 and 449 metres in a straight line, which is 450 to 600 metres on foot, six to eight minutes. Stars are the Atout France classification, with the date shown on each card, and we checked each hotel’s own website on 4 October 2026. We quote no room rates.
Two arrondissements, three approaches
The Luxembourg sits on the border of the 5th and the 6th, and the list follows it.
Boulevard Saint-Michel and the 5th: Elysa, Les Jardins du Luxembourg, du Brésil and Observatoire Luxembourg lie east and south of the garden, one to three minutes from the Luxembourg RER B station.
Rue Cujas and rue Malebranche: Grand Hôtel Saint Michel, Grand Cœur Latin and Madeleine de Senlis, all with water or a hammam on site, a few streets further east.
The 6th, towards the Odéon: Le Clos Médicis, Le Sénat, Fontaines, Relais Médicis, Trianon, Saint-Paul, Baume and Michelet Odéon, between rue de Vaugirard and the theatre.
Tourist tax. The City of Paris charges per adult and per night, collected by the hotel: €3.25 at two stars, €5.53 at three and €8.45 at four (rates from 1 January 2026, regional surcharge included). Children under 18 are exempt.
Airports. The Hôtel du Brésil says the RER B station gives a direct link to Charles-de-Gaulle and Orly. The taxi flat fare to the Left Bank is €65 from Charles-de-Gaulle and €36 from Orly (service-public.fr, 16 January 2026).
Frequently asked questions
What is the nearest hotel to the Luxembourg Gardens?
The Hôtel Elysa, at 6 rue Gay-Lussac, about 334 metres in a straight line from our garden reference point, or roughly 450 metres on foot; our address notes place it about 50 metres from the garden railings. Le Clos Médicis, Le Sénat and Les Jardins du Luxembourg follow within another 25 metres.
Which hotels near the Luxembourg Gardens have a swimming pool?
Two of the fifteen. The Grand Cœur Latin has a 15-metre pool, a hammam and a spa open daily to guests from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.; the Madeleine de Senlis has a heated indoor pool at 32 °C under stone vaults, reserved for guests, with a free private one-hour slot between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m..
Are these hotels in the 5th or the 6th arrondissement?
Both. Seven are in the 5th (Elysa, Les Jardins du Luxembourg, du Brésil, Observatoire Luxembourg, Grand Hôtel Saint Michel, Grand Cœur Latin and Madeleine de Senlis) and eight in the 6th, on rue de Vaugirard, rue Monsieur-le-Prince, rue Racine and around the Odéon.
How long should I allow for the Luxembourg Gardens?
Our data does not give a visiting time, and we do not publish opening hours that we have not checked. What we can measure is distance: the gardens are 450 to 600 metres on foot from every hotel in this list, so a visit can be split across the day.
Which station is closest?
The RER B station Luxembourg. Les Jardins du Luxembourg is one minute from it, Elysa two, and du Brésil and Observatoire Luxembourg three. The hotels on the Odéon side, such as Le Sénat or Baume, are four to five minutes from the Odéon metro station.
Which hotels near the gardens have a room adapted for wheelchairs?
Seven describe one: Elysa (22 m²), Les Jardins du Luxembourg, Fontaines du Luxembourg (two, on the ground floor), Observatoire Luxembourg, Relais Médicis, Grand Cœur Latin and, to be confirmed with reception, Grand Hôtel Saint Michel. The Trianon Rive Gauche and Saint-Paul say they are not equipped.
