Metro 10 10 Cluny-La Sorbonne · 3 min walk

A one-star hotel on a quiet street near the Cluny museum; the hotel says it has welcomed travellers since 1955, which we could not confirm. Guests have a free kitchen, washing machine and dryer, and breakfast is included. Rooms sleep up to five, but some share a shower or toilet with two other rooms.
This list is a measurement, not a selection by taste. We calculated the distance from every hotel in our base of 110 to the forecourt of Notre-Dame (the parvis, place Jean-Paul-II) using the coordinates of both, and kept the fifteen closest. They are ranked by that distance. The walking times are estimates: straight-line distance multiplied by 1.3 for the street layout, rounded to 50 metres, at 80 metres a minute. Crossing the Seine adds a bridge, which the estimate absorbs only roughly.
Stars are those of Atout France, the national agency that classifies hotels, as published in its register on 4 October 2026; each card shows the date of the decision. We checked on the same day that every hotel was open and taking bookings on its own website. No hotel pays to appear here.
Where they are
Notre-Dame stands on the Île de la Cité, in the middle of the river; the hotels of this list all face it from the Left Bank.
Quai Saint-Michel and rue du Petit-Pont: Notre Dame Saint-Michel and Les Rives de Notre Dame, on the riverfront itself.
Saint-Séverin and La Huchette: Mont-Blanc, Albe, Europe Saint Séverin, Parc Saint-Séverin, Henri IV Rive Gauche and Hôtel du Levant, in the narrow lanes around the church of Saint-Séverin, with the Saint-Michel Notre-Dame station at their door.
Maubert side: Esmeralda by the square Viviani, Maison Colbert, Les Degrés de Notre Dame and Hôtel de Notre Dame, in the streets running down to the quai de Montebello and the quai de la Tournelle, where the bouquinistes keep their boxes. Line 10 stops at Maubert-Mutualité.
Further back: Marignan, near the Cluny museum, and Le Clos Notre Dame, on the 6th-arrondissement side of the place Saint-Michel. Both are about six minutes away.
Arriving by car or taxi. The limited-traffic zone created in central Paris on 5 November 2024 covers the 1st to the 4th arrondissements but leaves out the islands and the whole Left Bank, so cars and taxis can drive to these hotels freely. The flat taxi fare from the airports to the Left Bank is €65 from Charles-de-Gaulle and €36 from Orly (service-public.fr, 16 January 2026).
Tourist tax. Paris adds a tax per adult and per night, collected by the hotel: €2.60 in a one-star hotel, €3.25 in a two-star, €5.53 in a three-star, €8.45 in a four-star and €11.70 in a five-star, regional surcharges included (City of Paris rates from 1 January 2026). Under-18s are exempt.
Noise. The lanes around rue de la Huchette stay lively late into the evening. If you sleep lightly, the Hôtel Mont-Blanc’s own advice — ask for the courtyard side — applies to most addresses there.
Frequently asked questions
Where should I stay to be near Notre-Dame?
On the Left Bank opposite the Île de la Cité, between the quai Saint-Michel and place Maubert. The fifteen hotels in this list are all within an estimated six minutes' walk of the cathedral forecourt, from Hôtel Esmeralda (about 150 metres) to Hôtel Marignan (about 500 metres).
Which hotels near Notre-Dame have rooms with a view of the cathedral?
Four hotels in this list sell named room categories facing Notre-Dame: Les Rives de Notre Dame (all ten rooms, according to the hotel), Esmeralda (five room types), Notre Dame Saint-Michel (the “rooms with a view” and the corner “Notre Dame room”) and Maison Colbert (a partial view). Slightly further away, the Hôtel Claude Bernard Saint-Germain and the Hôtel des Carmes also sell cathedral-view categories.
Which station serves Notre-Dame?
Saint-Michel Notre-Dame, with metro line 4 and RER lines B and C. Eleven of the hotels listed here have it as their nearest station, one to three minutes away on foot. RER B runs directly to Charles-de-Gaulle and Orly airports.
Are there cheap hotels near Notre-Dame?
Four of the fifteen are in our lowest price band (€), estimated from the official category — Esmeralda and Marignan (one star), Les Degrés de Notre Dame and Mont-Blanc (two stars). We do not quote room rates, which change nightly.
Is the area around Notre-Dame still under construction?
The cathedral's surroundings are being redesigned. The City of Paris plans most of the work until 2028, then the square Jean-XXIII in 2029–2030, so expect hoardings and diverted footpaths on the island side (paris.fr, checked 2 October 2026).
