A three-star between place Maubert and the river

The hotel takes up no. 19 rue Maître-Albert, a street between place Maubert and quai de la Tournelle, in the 5th arrondissement. Atout France, the official classification body for French hotels, gave it three stars on 17 February 2022 for 34 rooms; the hotel’s own site does not state a room count.

It markets itself as a Paris boutique hotel and is part of Paris Hotels Charm, a family of eight addresses that includes the Odéon Hotel, Left Bank and Au Manoir Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Its terms of sale name SNC du Petit Pont as operator.

Colour-coded floors and a family suite for five

Every floor is themed in a different colour. Depending on the category, rooms have bare stone, beams, and windows on the inner courtyard or on the street. All categories have individual air conditioning. The communicating rooms — 360 square feet on the English site — sleep up to five; families can also check the Hôtel Claude Bernard Saint-Germain, four minutes away, whose quadruples take four.

Instead of a spa, there is a compact fitness room with one treadmill and an infrared sauna. Breakfast is a buffet in the breakfast room. The site mentions no bar or restaurant, and it is silent on access for reduced mobility and on parking. Pets fall under a generic clause in the terms of sale rather than a stated policy.

On views, the room descriptions mention only the courtyard and rue Maître-Albert, so do not count on a view of Notre-Dame.

On foot from rue Maître-Albert

Place Maubert is a minute’s walk, the Collège de France about four, the square in front of Notre-Dame six, the Musée de Cluny seven and the Sorbonne eight.

Two minutes away on boulevard Saint-Germain, the Hôtel Abbatial Saint-Germain is the closest three-star: 44 rooms for one or two people and a 40 m² fitness room in a vaulted cellar, but its air conditioning runs only from May to October. On rue des Bernardins, the Hôtel Oratio (39 rooms) offers communicating rooms, rooms adapted for reduced mobility and an honesty bar. For a step up, the four-star Hôtel des Carmes is three minutes away with a private hammam and sauna.

Frequently asked questions

Hotel de Notre Dame review — what is it like?

We don’t publish scores or recycle guest opinions; the record shows a 34-room three-star with air conditioning, colour-themed floors, communicating rooms for five and a small treadmill-and-sauna room. It lacks a bar, a restaurant and published information on accessibility.

Do the rooms at Hôtel de Notre Dame look onto the cathedral?

The room descriptions we read say the rooms face the inner courtyard or rue Maître-Albert, and none mentions a view of the cathedral. Ask the hotel before counting on one.

Does the hotel have a spa?

No. Its fitness room has a single treadmill and an infrared sauna, with no treatments and no hammam.

Can a family of five stay together?

Yes. The communicating rooms are sold for one to five people.

What time is breakfast?

The buffet is served in a breakfast room from 7.30 to 10 a.m., according to the hotel.
