On the 5th-arrondissement end of boulevard Saint-Germain
The Abbatial stands at no. 46 boulevard Saint-Germain, between place Maubert and rue de Poissy. The “Saint-Germain” in its name is that of the boulevard it stands on: this stretch belongs to the 5th arrondissement and the Latin Quarter, not to the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district of the 6th. Atout France, the national agency that classifies hotels, records three stars for 44 rooms, dated 9 June 2026.
It is independent. The company that owns the website and runs the hotel, SAS Hôtel Abbatial, is chaired by another company, Hôtelière Bernardins; no chain or group is displayed. The hotel describes the building as Haussmann-era, with mouldings, half-timbering and exposed stone, a description we have not been able to cross-check.
Rooms for two, and a gym in the cellar
All 44 rooms were refreshed in 2021, according to the hotel, and a period lift serves them. They take one or two guests, never more. In the “balcony” categories, on the 2nd, 5th and 6th floors, the balcony is guaranteed. The ground-floor Junior Suite is adapted for guests with reduced mobility. Air conditioning exists but runs only between 1 May and 31 October.
The cellar has been turned into a 40 m² gym with cardio machines and weights, open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on booking, for four people at a time; a coach can be hired. Breakfast is served in a room the hotel calls the “Brasserie”, under the glass roof of what it says was a former Parisian brasserie. That is the only meal: there is no restaurant, no bar is mentioned and the FAQ confirms there is no spa. Pets are not allowed. Its FAQ also pitches the hotel to couples, with champagne and rose petals on request.
Place Maubert and the neighbours
Place Maubert is three minutes away, the Collège de France five, the parvis of Notre-Dame seven, the Panthéon and the Cluny museum eight. Maubert-Mutualité, on line 10, is 250 metres away; Saint-Michel Notre-Dame, nine minutes away, serves the RER B and C; its line 4 stop is closed until 19 December 2026 for works (Paris.fr, checked October 2026).
Two three-star hotels lie two minutes away. The Hôtel Oratio, on rue des Bernardins, has 39 rooms, including family and adapted rooms. Hôtel de Notre Dame, on rue Maître-Albert, has 34 and also lists a fitness room, which our database records as a single treadmill and an infrared sauna. For a pool and a rooftop, the four-star Hôtel Pilgrim, on rue de Poissy, is three minutes away. Among these three-stars, the Abbatial is the largest and the only one restricted to rooms for two.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Hôtel Abbatial Saint-Germain in Saint-Germain-des-Prés?
No. It is on boulevard Saint-Germain, but on the 5th-arrondissement stretch at place Maubert, three minutes from the square. Saint-Germain-des-Prés lies in the 6th arrondissement.
Does the Hôtel Abbatial Saint-Germain have air conditioning?
Yes, but its FAQ says it runs only from 1 May to 31 October.
Can I see Notre-Dame from my room at the Abbatial?
Some rooms look towards Notre-Dame, others onto the church of Saint-Nicolas-du-Chardonnet or the rooftops, but the hotel does not tie the cathedral view to a specific category, so it cannot be guaranteed at booking.
Where can I park near the Hôtel Abbatial Saint-Germain?
The hotel has no car park of its own. It points to the public Maubert-Collège des Bernardins car park, opposite the entrance.
What does a fair Hotel Abbatial Saint Germain review say?
We rate nothing and quote no guests. The facts favour the location at Maubert, the cellar gym, guaranteed balconies and the adapted ground-floor suite; they count against it on seasonal air conditioning, no family rooms, no pets and no restaurant.
