Four stars is a broad category: 41 hotels in our base. To keep the list useful we applied one measurable rule and kept the 13 with 44 rooms or more; the list runs from the largest, 110 rooms, to the smallest, 44. Size is a plain, checkable criterion, and the list is ordered by number of rooms.
Stars come from the Atout France register, the national agency that classifies French accommodation, as published on 4 October 2026; each card gives the date of the decision. We checked that every hotel was open on its own website. We quote no rates. The price band on each card, €€€, is estimated from the category.
A caveat on the figures: the number of rooms is the one in the register, which can differ slightly from the hotel’s own description.
Where they stand
Between the Sorbonne and the Luxembourg: the Trianon Rive Gauche, the Select Hôtel, the Grand Cœur Latin, the Grand Hôtel Saint Michel and the Mercure La Sorbonne.
Around Maubert and Cluny: the Villa Panthéon, the Atmosphères, the Les Bulles de Paris and the Mercure Notre-Dame, along rue des Écoles and rue du Sommerard.
On the Odéon side: the Dame des Arts and the Belloy Saint-Germain, three minutes from Odéon.
East and south of the Panthéon: the Pilgrim and the Monte Cristo, towards Cardinal Lemoine and Censier-Daubenton.
For smaller houses at the same level near the fountain, see our guide to hotels near Saint-Michel.
Before you book
Accessibility. Few of these hotels describe a wheelchair-ready room. Trianon Rive Gauche and Belloy Saint-Germain state that they have none. Select, Villa Panthéon, Atmosphères, Les Bulles, Mercure La Sorbonne, Grand Hôtel Saint Michel, Grand Cœur Latin and Pilgrim each mention adapted rooms, and Dame des Arts lists “PMR access on request” for one category.
Seasonal limits. The Pilgrim rooftop bar is open from May to October, and the Monte Cristo has announced closures of its pool for works. Check both against your dates.
