A large four-star at the corner of boulevard Saint-Michel

The Trianon Rive Gauche stands at 1 bis rue de Vaugirard, in the 6th arrondissement, where the street meets boulevard Saint-Michel. The address belongs to the Odéon and Luxembourg sector, on the fringe of the 6th: the Sorbonne is three minutes away on foot and the Palais du Luxembourg four. Atout France, the state body that issues French hotel stars, classified it four stars on 31 October 2024, for 110 rooms. That makes it the largest of the 110 hotels in our base, one room ahead of the Dame des Arts.

No chain name appears on the hotel’s own site or in its legal notices, and bookings run through an engine of its own.

Rooms and services

The hotel gives most attention to families. Its communicating rooms, a double and a twin joined by a door, add up to 30 m² and take three or four people, each half with its own bathroom. Air conditioning is listed throughout. Small dogs are admitted at a daily charge, and guide dogs are free. A room category is sold on an Eiffel Tower view, at 16 m², and some rooms have balconies.

There is no restaurant. A breakfast room also serves drinks, room service covers lunch and dinner, and the lounge keeps a wine list, snacks and cocktails without being presented as a bar. The hotel says it holds the European Ecolabel and the Clef Verte, and runs a small seminar room for 19 or 20 people. It states that it cannot take wheelchairs, under a waiver from the prefecture, while offering equipment for hearing and visual impairments. It has no car park and points to the public one at Soufflot-Panthéon.

What is around it

The Palais du Luxembourg is about four minutes away on foot by our estimate, and the hotel itself gives four minutes to the garden. For the metro, Odéon (lines 4 and 10), Cluny-La Sorbonne (line 10) and Luxembourg (RER B) each need about six minutes: the hotel is not next to a station. For the area’s other hotels, see our list of hotels around Odéon.

Against its neighbours

Two of its four-star neighbours are far smaller: the Hôtel Saint-Paul Rive Gauche has 31 rooms, the Hôtel Belloy Saint-Germain 50. At 110 rooms the Trianon is more than twice the size of either. The Belloy adds a bar and also takes small pets; the Saint-Paul has no pets but a flowered patio. Of the three, only the Trianon lists a room category sold on an Eiffel Tower view.
