We measured the distance from each of the 110 hotels in our base to the axis of rue Mouffetard, taken as the straight line between its two ends, the place de la Contrescarpe and the church of Saint-Médard, using the coordinates of each place. We kept every hotel within 350 metres: fourteen. They are listed from the nearest to the farthest, so the Apolonia, on the street itself, comes first and the Serotel Lutèce last.
The distances are as the crow flies and approximate; the street curves. Stars come from the Atout France register, the national agency that classifies hotels, as published on 4 October 2026, with the date of each decision. We checked each hotel on its own website, quote no rates and accept no payment for inclusion. The price bands (€ to €€€) are estimated from the category.
The district at a glance
Rue Mouffetard runs south from the place de la Contrescarpe to Saint-Médard, in the south of the 5th arrondissement. The hotels cluster along rue Monge and rue Pascal on one side and rue Censier on the other. Metro line 7 serves Place Monge and Censier-Daubenton, line 10 serves Cardinal Lemoine, and the Arènes de Lutèce, the Roman amphitheatre, lie next to rue Monge.
Distance to the river. This is the south of the Latin Quarter, so Notre-Dame and the Seine are a longer walk than from the Saint-Michel hotels, and the nearest stations are mostly on line 7.
Access. Apolonia, Des Nations, Best Western, Saint-Christophe, Monge and Serotel Lutèce describe an adapted room. De France Quartier Latin states that it is not accessible. The others mention accessibility without describing a room, so ask.
