Rue Mouffetard, a short walk from rue Monge; it shows the area, not the Hôtel des Nations

A Saint-Germain name on rue Monge

The Hôtel des Nations Saint-Germain is at 54 rue Monge, in the 5th arrondissement, near the Arènes de Lutèce, and the Saint-Germain of its name is a label, not a place; the Arènes de Lutèce are about seventy metres away. Cardinal Lemoine (line 10) and Place Monge (line 7) are each three minutes’ walk, and Jussieu (lines 7 and 10) four. Our pages on the Arènes de Lutèce and on rue Mouffetard cover the surroundings.

Atout France, the state body that issues French hotel stars, reclassified it three stars on 17 March 2026, for 36 rooms.

Decor, courtyard and families

The rooms were decorated by Marie-Paule Clout, an architect and interior designer: pairs of bright colours in some, a wall of grey-toned wallpaper in others. The inner courtyard is open to guests, and the triples and the quadruple open on to a small private yard with a table and chairs. For families, the hotel gives each child a present on arrival, has board games, and puts two televisions in the quadruple.

All rooms have reversible air conditioning. Two on the ground floor are accessible, with a bar in the shower, and there is a lift. The “welcome bar” is wine and an aperitif poured at reception, so we do not call it a bar. There is no restaurant, no gym, pets are refused and there is no car park of the hotel’s own.

Among its neighbours

Five hotels of this guide stand on rue Monge. The Hôtel des Arènes, at 51, is a three-star of 52 rooms with air conditioning; the Hôtel Monge, at 55, is a four-star of 30 rooms with a spa; and the Best Western Quartier Latin Panthéon, at 71, is a three-star of 37 rooms with a spa and a patio. Des Nations competes on its decor and its family layout, not on a spa. Our guide to the hotels near rue Mouffetard lists the rest.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Hôtel des Nations Saint-Germain in Saint-Germain-des-Prés?

No. It is at 54 rue Monge, in the 5th arrondissement, near the Arènes de Lutèce. Cardinal Lemoine (line 10) and Place Monge (line 7) are three minutes’ walk, Jussieu four.

Does the hotel have family rooms?

Yes: triple rooms and a quadruple with four beds, the triples and quadruple opening on to a private yard. The hotel adds a gift for each child, board games and a second television in the quadruple.

Is there a bar, a restaurant or parking?

None of the three. A “welcome bar” serves wine and an aperitif at reception, there is no restaurant, and the hotel advises the Indigo Patriarches car park, about 550 metres away.

Are there accessible rooms?

Two ground-floor rooms are for reduced mobility, with a bar in the shower. The hotel has a lift.

What are the strong and weak points of the Hôtel des Nations Saint-Germain?

On checked facts: the decor, the family rooms, the courtyard and the accessible rooms weigh for it; the name, the lack of parking and of any restaurant weigh against it.
