We calculated the distance from every open hotel in our base of 110 to the Jardin des Plantes, using the coordinates of the garden and of each hotel, and kept the twelve nearest. They are listed in that order. The walking times are our estimates: straight-line distance multiplied by 1.3 for the street layout, rounded to 50 metres, then divided by 80 metres a minute.
The garden is large and the measure runs to the single point we hold for it, so a hotel near a gate can be closer to an entrance than its figure suggests. Stars come from the Atout France register, shown with the date of each decision, and every hotel was confirmed open on 4 October 2026. No hotel pays to be listed.
Where they are
The twelve fall into three groups. At the south end, the Libertel faces the Gare d’Austerlitz and the Jardin des Plantes hotel stands on rue Linné, with Orphée on boulevard Saint-Marcel. To the west, rue Monge and rue Lacépède hold Saint-Christophe, Best Western, Monge, Des Arènes and Des Nations, in the streets around place Monge and the Arènes de Lutèce. To the north-west, rue des Écoles and rue du Cardinal-Lemoine hold Paris Art Hotel, Des Grandes Écoles and the Hôtel Quartier Latin. Maxim stands apart on rue Censier, by Censier-Daubenton station.
By our estimate the garden is a 5 to 11 minute walk from every hotel listed, but opening hours and prices are not in our data, so check the Muséum’s own site before you go.
