A small house on rue des Écoles

The Hôtel Quartier Latin is at 9 rue des Écoles, in the 5th arrondissement, in the stretch between Cardinal Lemoine and Jussieu. The Arènes de Lutèce are about five minutes on foot and place Maubert about six. Atout France, the state body that issues French hotel stars, classified it three stars on 15 July 2024, for 29 rooms.

Because many Paris hotels carry the words “Quartier Latin” in their name, here is the identification: this is no. 9 rue des Écoles, an independent house with no chain behind it. The Best Western Quartier Latin Panthéon, the Hôtel de France Quartier Latin, the Hôtel Maxim Quartier Latin and French Theory are different hotels, with pages of their own.

Décor and rooms

The house takes its decorative cue from Parisian literary life: a grand library, velvet, wood panelling. The hotel says the building is a typical Haussmann one, near Notre-Dame and the Panthéon; we found no heritage record to check that. Every room faces the street and has acoustic windows. Air conditioning and heating are each adjustable in the room. Triples take three, either with three single beds or one double and one single, and a baby cot is free.

Limits are stated by the hotel itself: it has no room adapted to reduced mobility, animals are not accepted even when small, and the only car parks are public and paying, nearby. There is no bar and no restaurant, only a minibar in the room and a breakfast served from 7 to 10.30 a.m.

On foot

Cardinal Lemoine, on line 10, is two minutes away; Jussieu, with lines 7 and 10, five; Maubert-Mutualité, on line 10, six. The Arènes de Lutèce and the quarter around place de la Contrescarpe are within a walk: see the guide to the Arènes de Lutèce and our page on hotels near rue Mouffetard.

Among its neighbours

At 29 rooms it is smaller than the median three-star of our base, which has 35. The Hôtel des Arènes, about 350 m on foot, has 52; the Hôtel Maxim Quartier Latin, about 1 km away, has 33, and the Hôtel de France Quartier Latin, about 1.2 km away, 30.
