A themed four-star at the foot of rue Mouffetard

The Hôtel de l’Espérance is at 15 rue Pascal, in the 5th arrondissement, at the lower end of the Mouffetard district, halfway between Censier-Daubenton and Les Gobelins. Atout France, the state body that issues French hotel stars, records four stars for 38 rooms, dated 28 July 2026. The operator is a limited company, Hôtel de l’Espérance, which shows no chain.

On location: this is a Mouffetard address, about 1.4 km in a straight line from the Luxembourg garden and 200 metres from the church of Saint-Médard.

Décor and rooms

The house is built around a 1970s idea: a bubble sofa in the lobby, a selection of vinyl records from the decade, vintage floral patterns in the rooms. The rooms have air conditioning, Marshall speakers, Baija products and teas made to measure by KODAMA. The hotel says it won the Clef Verte in 2025, which we could not check against the label’s register.

A patio with a veranda is open to guests for breakfast and reading. There is no restaurant, only room service, and wines from women vintners are served behind reception, which the hotel does not call a bar. For families there is a single Triple Family Room, for a couple and one child. The hotel says it is accessible to guests with reduced mobility on request, without describing an adapted room; ask before booking. Pets and parking are not mentioned.

The Hôtel Monge has 30 rooms and a spa; the Serotel Lutèce has 41; the Seven Hotel Paris has 35; the Monte Cristo has 50 with a pool, a restaurant and a bar. The Espérance lists no spa, pool, restaurant or bar; its patio and its 1970s theme are what it offers instead.
