A themed hotel at 20 rue Berthollet

The Seven stands at no. 20 rue Berthollet, in the south of the 5th arrondissement, a street we attach to the Mouffetard area: the church of Saint-Médard and the Val-de-Grâce are both about six minutes away on foot. In French terms the hotel is a four-star, classified by Atout France — the state body behind the official hotel stars — on 7 December 2021, with 35 rooms.

It belongs to no chain or group. The name changes from page to page, between Seven Hotel Paris and Le SEVEN, and OpenStreetMap simply calls it Le Seven.

Its suites are built on one idea, the number seven.

Suites, floating beds and a massage room

Seven suites, which the hotel calls “parenthèses”, each take a different meaning of the number as their theme, from seventh heaven to the seventh art; one more suite has a private jacuzzi. In the Superior category, the beds are what the hotel calls “levitating” doubles. Every room is air-conditioned, and one Classic room is adapted for guests with reduced mobility. Some rooms have a balcony, subject to availability.

Guests share a living room with what the hotel calls a “confidential terrace”, without saying on which floor. Massages are booked in advance, for one or for two, in the Wellness Chapel. There is no restaurant or bar on the website; breakfast is served in the dining room or brought up to the room.

Rue Berthollet and its other four-stars

Rue Berthollet holds two four-star hotels, two minutes apart on foot. At no. 2, the Serotel Lutèce takes the opposite approach to the Seven: a private garden, rooms for families of up to six and pets accepted. Four minutes away on rue Pascal, the Hôtel Monte Cristo is the choice for facilities, with a 15-metre indoor pool, a sauna, a restaurant and a rum bar, while the Hôtel de l’Espérance at 15 rue Pascal offers a patio under a veranda and 1970s-inspired rooms.

Three minutes away on rue Flatters, the three-star Five Boutique Hotel Paris Quartier Latin also has a jacuzzi suite, with a private terrace over the courtyard.

For sightseeing, Censier-Daubenton on line 7 is the station to use. On foot, the place de la Contrescarpe is about eleven minutes from the door and the Panthéon about thirteen.

Frequently asked questions

Who is the Seven Hotel Paris for?

We do not rate the Seven Hotel Paris or reproduce guest comments. On the facts, its suites themed on the number 7, its levitating beds and its couples’ massages point to a stay for two; the website mentions no family room, no restaurant and no parking, which narrows it for other travellers.

Is “Le Seven” the same hotel as Seven Hotel Paris?

Yes. OpenStreetMap lists the building at 20 rue Berthollet as “Le Seven”, while the hotel’s own pages alternate between Seven Hotel Paris and Le SEVEN. The official register lists it as HÔTEL SEVEN, four stars.

How many rooms does the Seven Hotel Paris have?

Thirty-five according to Atout France. The hotel’s website also says it has seven suites without making clear whether they are part of the 35, so we keep the register’s figure.

Which metro is closest to the Seven Hotel Paris?

Censier-Daubenton, on line 7, 600 metres or about eight minutes on foot from 20 rue Berthollet. It is the only station listed within that distance.

Can I get a massage at the Seven?

Yes, by appointment, alone or in a pair, in the Wellness Chapel. It is a treatment room rather than a spa, with no pool, sauna or hammam listed.
