A 2L Collection house on rue des Écoles

Hôtel Atmosphères occupies no. 31 rue des Écoles, in the 5th arrondissement, at the point where the street runs along the foot of the Montagne Sainte-Geneviève. Place Maubert is about three minutes away on foot, the Panthéon five. Atout France, the national agency responsible for hotel stars, classified it four stars on 14 March 2022, with 56 rooms; the hotel’s own pages give the same figure in one place and add nine suites in another, so we keep the official count.

The hotel belongs to 2L Collection, which counts it among five houses, one of them Le Cinq Codet in the 7th arrondissement. Its web page is now part of the group’s website: the former address, hotelatmospheres.com, redirects there.

Rooms in four Paris moods

The rooms follow four themes — “Salons de Thé”, “Urban”, “Monuments” and “By Night” — and every one carries photographs of Paris by Thierry des Ouches. The layout is the work of the architect Vincent Bastie. Rooms are air-conditioned, some have a private balcony or terrace, and suites take up to four people; a family page mentions babysitting and a junior library. Three classic rooms are accessible to guests with reduced mobility, and pets are welcome for a supplement.

The wellness area is free for guests: a sauna, a fitness room and a hydromassage bed, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., with massages on request. Some suites add a private sauna. There is no restaurant — breakfast runs from 7 to 11 a.m. and afternoon tea is served — and the bar is an honesty bar in the lounge, without a barman.

The four-star cluster around it

Next door, at no. 33, is the three-star Hôtel WYLD Saint Germain, with 45 rooms. Six four-star hotels lie within about 100 metres on foot, and five of them list a spa of some kind. The closest comparison is La Lanterne & Spa By Timhotel, a minute away on rue de la Montagne-Sainte-Geneviève, which adds an indoor pool to its fitness room. With 56 rooms, Atmosphères is the second largest of the group after the Villa Panthéon (59), and those two are the only ones that accept pets.

Line 10 serves Maubert-Mutualité, 250 metres away, and Cardinal Lemoine, 450; Saint-Michel Notre-Dame, eight minutes away, serves the RER B and C, but its line 4 stop is closed until 19 December 2026 for works (Paris.fr, checked October 2026). The Collège de France is three minutes away, the Sorbonne and the Cluny museum six.

Frequently asked questions

Does Hotel Atmosphères have a spa?

It has a wellness area with a sauna, a fitness room and a hydromassage bed, open free of charge to guests from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.; massages are available on request. Some suites have their own private sauna. There is no pool.

Is Hotel Atmosphères suitable for wheelchair users?

The hotel says three of its classic rooms are accessible to people with reduced mobility.

Who owns Hotel Atmosphères?

It is one of the five houses of 2L Collection, alongside the Château d’Audrieu, the Château de Fonscolombe, Les Lumières in Versailles and Le Cinq Codet in the 7th arrondissement.

What should a Hotel Atmosphères review take into account?

We score nothing and quote no guests. The facts in its favour are the wellness area, the accessible rooms, the suites for four and the pet policy; against it, no restaurant, a self-service bar only and no pool, which a neighbour offers.

Why does the old website no longer work?

When we checked on 4 October 2026, hotelatmospheres.com had an expired security certificate; without HTTPS, the address redirects to the hotel’s page on the 2L Collection website.
