On the Sorbonne square
The Select Hôtel Rive Gauche is at 1 place de la Sorbonne, in the 5th arrondissement, on the square that gives the university its approach. Atout France classified it four stars on 24 April 2023, for 65 rooms; the hotel is independent. Cluny–La Sorbonne on line 10 is five minutes away on foot, Luxembourg (RER B) six and Odéon seven. Rooms and design
The Executive rooms, Triple Executive and Junior Suites look out on the square and the university, or onto rue de la Sorbonne. Its English page credits the contemporary furniture to Patricia Urquiola, and an art route shows works by Richard Orlinski, Daniel Gastaud and Hippolyte Romain, with a monumental sculpture by Lorant Waald in the atrium. The atrium itself holds a winter garden of cacti under a glass roof, with lounges on balconies around it.
Services
There is a bar-lounge in an alcove, open from 13:00 to midnight. Room service runs from 11:00 to 23:00; there is no restaurant, and breakfast is a buffet. Wellness comes on request, with hairdressing, beauty treatments and yoga, but the hotel has no spa. Air conditioning is listed, the largest Deluxe rooms are adapted with grab bars, a Triple Executive and Junior Suites suit families, and pets are accepted. Parking is not attached: the hotel notes a public car park in rue Soufflot.
