On the place du Panthéon

The hotel occupies no. 19 on the place du Panthéon, in the 5th arrondissement. The Panthéon is two minutes away on foot, rue Soufflot three and the Sorbonne five. Atout France, which awards the official star ratings, classified it four stars on 29 November 2023, for 35 rooms.

It belongs to a Left Bank collection that describes itself as seven independent hotels guided by one family; the Hôtel Saint-André des Arts belongs to it too.

Six floors, six tributes

The theme is women. Each floor carries a name: the Cocottes, Édith Piaf, George Sand, Juliette Gréco, the Signares and Marguerite Duras, from the first floor to the sixth. Four categories — Romantique, Supérieure Panthéon, Famille and Deluxe — look onto the monument, and the hotel says the top-floor Deluxe also sees the Sacré-Cœur and Notre-Dame. All rooms are air-conditioned.

Families can book one of three family rooms, each a Classic and a Superior room that communicate, for up to four. Small pets are welcome. A room adapted for reduced mobility is offered only “on request”, with no description, so we do not count one. Breakfast is served in a vaulted room of blond stone; the bar sits under a glass roof facing the Panthéon’s columns, and room service runs day and night. There is no restaurant, no parking — the hotel points to the Indigo car park on rue Soufflot — and, for wellbeing, only massages and treatments by appointment.

Its neighbours on and around the square

Next door at no. 17, the three-star Hôtel des Grands Hommes also faces the columns, with rooms in the Empire style and animals accepted. Among four-stars, the Hôtel Les Rives Oceanik on rue Gay-Lussac and the Hôtel Les Jardins du Luxembourg in the impasse Royer-Collard are both four minutes away: the first has a family suite and two adapted rooms, the second a bar lounge and an apartment for five, but neither sells a Panthéon view. Hôtel Le Petit Paris, three minutes away on rue Saint-Jacques, lists some rooms with a terrace or balcony.

The Hôtel Saint-André des Arts, from the same collection, stands on the 6th-arrondissement side.
