A small house on rue des Grands-Degrés

Les Degrés de Notre Dame occupies no. 10 rue des Grands-Degrés, a short street near the quai de Montebello in the 5th arrondissement. Its houses date from the 18th century, and the one at nos. 1–3 has been a listed historic monument since 1984; the hotel’s own building is not among those cited. The parvis of Notre-Dame is about four minutes away on foot by our estimate, the place Maubert three.

It has two stars in the Atout France register — France’s official classification, run by the national tourism agency — renewed on 11 December 2025 for ten rooms. That makes it the smallest hotel within 300 metres, and the joint smallest of our whole Latin Quarter database with Les Rives de Notre Dame and the Villa d’Estrées, both four-stars with ten rooms. There is no independent website: the official page sits on the portal of Best Cost Hotels, a small group of seven Paris hotels, and its booking button leads to Booking.com.

What the rooms offer

The hotel describes its ten rooms as being “in an authentic style”. They are heated — air conditioning is not mentioned — and come with a safe and cable television; some have a view over the city. Wi-Fi is announced as free at reception. A continental breakfast is served for a charge, and the page mentions a bar and a souvenir shop without saying how the bar operates. The reception is open 24 hours a day.

The limits are stated clearly on the hotel’s own page: it is not accessible to guests with reduced mobility, or to blind, visually impaired or deaf guests. There are no family rooms and no parking, and pets are not mentioned.

Neighbours on both ends of the scale

Maubert-Mutualité, on line 10, is about three minutes away; Cluny-La Sorbonne (line 10) and Saint-Michel Notre-Dame about six, where line 4 is closed until 19 December 2026 and the RER B and C remain. The Collège de France is six minutes on foot, the Musée de Cluny and the place Saint-Michel about eight.

The neighbours cover every category. A hundred metres away, Maison Colbert is the only five-star of the 5th arrondissement in our database, with a restaurant and valet service. Hôtel de Notre Dame, a three-star on rue Maître-Albert about 150 metres away, has air conditioning, a fitness room and family rooms. Among two-stars, the closest is Hôtel Mont-Blanc on rue de la Huchette, about 500 metres away, which has air-conditioned family rooms and its own restaurant.
