A listed house between rue de la Bûcherie and rue Galande
Maison Colbert stands at no. 7 rue de l’Hôtel-Colbert, a short street between rue de la Bûcherie and rue Galande, about three minutes on foot from the parvis of Notre-Dame. The building, also numbered 11 rue de la Bûcherie, is a late 18th-century house; its street façades and roofs were registered as historic monuments on 19 October 1957. Meliá’s own pages date it to the 16th century, but we follow the national heritage record.
Simone de Beauvoir lived at 11 rue de la Bûcherie, in a fifth-floor flat she shared with Claude Lanzmann, and wrote Les Mandarins there; the hotel presents itself as her former home. Today it belongs to the Meliá Collection of Meliá Hotels International, whose website hosts its official pages. Its five stars, awarded by the national agency Atout France on 22 December 2022, make it the only five-star hotel of the 5th arrondissement in our database.
Sorolla interiors, Café Clotilde
The 39 rooms and suites are decorated in homage to Joaquín Sorolla — replicas of his canvases, art books, and two suites bearing the names Elena Sorolla and Maria Sorolla. The Superior Room is the category sold with a partial view of the cathedral. Rooms are air-conditioned, and the hotel lists accessible and adapted rooms with facilities for guests with reduced mobility. The Deluxe Extra adds a sofa bed, but no family or communicating category is listed.
Café Clotilde covers the day, from French cooking and signature cocktails to pastries, a weekend brunch and tea time, linked in 2026 to the name of Chiara Serpaggi. Dogs are welcome with no weight limit, against a supplement. There is a valet service and parking nearby, without further detail. No spa or gym is described; for those, the other two five-stars in our database, Relais Christine and Hôtel d’Aubusson, each have a spa; they stand in the 6th, on the border between the Latin Quarter and Saint-Germain, about a kilometre away on foot.
Notre-Dame and the quays on foot
Maubert-Mutualité, on line 10, is about three minutes away; Cluny-La Sorbonne (line 10) and Saint-Michel Notre-Dame (line 4, RER B and C) about five. The place Maubert is two minutes on foot, the Collège de France five, the Musée de Cluny six and the place Saint-Michel seven.
The immediate neighbours are far more modest. A hundred metres away, Hôtel Les Degrés de Notre Dame is a two-star with ten rooms; Hôtel de Notre Dame, a three-star on rue Maître-Albert, has a fitness room. The nearest four-star, Hôtel Jardin de Cluny, is about 300 metres away.
