An address on the quay

The Hôtel Notre Dame Saint-Michel is at 1 quai Saint-Michel, at the corner of rue du Petit-Pont, on the river bank facing the cathedral forecourt. The hotel is in the 5th arrondissement; the data treats it as a borderline case of the Maubert and Notre-Dame sub-district, since place Saint-Michel lies about 200 metres off. Atout France classified it three stars on 18 March 2022, for 26 rooms; the hotel’s own site gives no total, so we keep the official figure.

Saint-Michel Notre-Dame, where line 4 and the RER B and C meet, is two minutes away on foot. Cité, also on line 4, and Cluny–La Sorbonne on line 10 are four minutes each. The cathedral guide covers the visit; the booksellers’ stalls line the quay in front.

Rooms: Lacroix, view and courtyard

Interiors are the hotel’s main selling point. It states that every room was dressed individually by the couturier Christian Lacroix, and Wikipedia dates the commission to 2010. The “view” rooms, 14 m², face the Seine and the Île de la Cité; the corner “Notre Dame” room, 15 m², is directed at the cathedral. The hotel presents its courtyard rooms as very quiet. All are for two guests; no triple or family room is listed.

Services and limits

Breakfast is served between 7:00 and 10:30, in the dining room or in the room, the hotel says without extra charge. Reception is staffed round the clock and an airport shuttle is mentioned. There is no bar or restaurant. The one real constraint is access: the hotel states that a stairway leads to reception before the lift, so it is not suited to wheelchair users. The building is described as a listed Parisian building; no heritage record for the address backs this, and we repeat it only as the hotel’s own wording.

Beside the neighbours

In the same area the Hôtel de Notre-Dame is also a three-star, with 34 rooms and a gym; the Hôtel Le Clos Notre-Dame has 16 rooms, with air conditioning as its only listed equipment. The Notre Dame Saint-Michel offers neither, but it is the one facing the cathedral across the quay. For the full set, see our guide to hotels near Notre-Dame.

At 1 quai Saint-Michel, 5th arrondissement, at the corner of rue du Petit-Pont and opposite the cathedral forecourt. Place Saint-Michel is about 200 metres away.

Do the rooms really look onto Notre-Dame?

Only some do. The hotel sells a "view" category and a corner "Notre Dame" room with a cathedral outlook; others face the inner courtyard. Ask for the view category when you book.

Is the Hôtel Notre Dame Saint-Michel accessible to wheelchair users?

The hotel says no: a staircase leads up to reception, and the lift starts beyond it.

Are pets allowed?

According to the hotel, yes, on condition that they are not left alone in the room. Air conditioning is listed in the services and in each room type.

What does a review of the Hôtel Notre Dame Saint-Michel come down to?

On checked facts: the address, the cathedral views and the Lacroix interiors weigh for it; the stairs at reception, the small rooms and the lack of a bar or restaurant weigh against it.
