Fifty metres from Saint-Michel

The Hôtel Mont-Blanc stands at 28 rue de la Huchette, in the 5th arrondissement, about 50 metres from Saint-Michel Notre-Dame. The RER B and C stop there; its line 4 stop is closed until 19 December 2026, so Cluny–La Sorbonne (line 10) is the open alternative. Cité (line 4) and Cluny–La Sorbonne (line 10) are four minutes’ walk. Atout France classified it two stars on 15 March 2023, for 42 rooms; it is independent, and its price tier is the lowest of the guide’s scale (€). The rue de la Huchette guide describes the street.

Rooms and the restaurant

The hotel describes itself as a historic family house, and its strongest practical asset is a family format: a quadruple room or suite of 22 m² with a king-size bed and a sofa bed, and two categories of triple room. Air conditioning is stated in the FAQ and the room pages. The hotel calls the lift picturesque.

Le Jardin du Roy is introduced as the hotel’s restaurant, reached directly from the lobby, serving traditional French dishes between 11:30 and 1:30 in the morning. There is no bar. There is no private car park either; the hotel mentions two public ones, Indigo Saint-Michel and Saemes Lagrange-Maubert.

The street and its memory

The street is among the liveliest in the quarter, and the hotel says so, advising a courtyard room. Its literary card is Ernest Hemingway, who according to Wikipedia stayed several times at number 28; the hotel gives the stay a page of its own. We repeat the Hemingway story only as attributed.

Among the neighbours

Among other two-stars nearby, the Hôtel Saint-Pierre, about 450 m on foot, has 43 rooms and the Grand Hôtel des Balcons, about 700 m, 49; the Mont-Blanc’s 42 are the fewest of the three, and neither lists a restaurant. The Hôtel Les Degrés de Notre-Dame, about 500 m, has only 10. Our list of the Saint-Michel hotels and the page on budget hotels in the 5th set them out together.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the Mont Blanc hotel in Paris or in Chamonix?

In Paris. This is the two-star at 28 rue de la Huchette, 5th arrondissement, not a hotel near Mont Blanc itself.

Where exactly is the Hôtel Mont-Blanc?

At 28 rue de la Huchette, 50 metres from Saint-Michel Notre-Dame, whose line 4 stop is closed until 19 December 2026 (the RER B and C still stop there). Cité (line 4) and Cluny–La Sorbonne (line 10) are four minutes away.

Did Hemingway really stay here?

Wikipedia's article on the street says so, and the hotel promotes it with a page of its own. We have no other source, so we repeat it as their claim only.

Is it noisy?

The hotel itself describes rue de la Huchette as very lively and recommends a room on the courtyard.

What is our review of the Hôtel Mont-Blanc?

On checked facts: the price tier, the position at Saint-Michel and the restaurant weigh for it; the street noise, the lack of a bar and of adapted rooms weigh against it.
