Rooms take one to five guests, but several share a shower or toilet with two other rooms, so check the category. A cot and a high chair can be lent.

Metro 7, 10 7 10 Jussieu · 5 min walk

Ten rooms on rue des Grands-Degrés, a short walk from the quai de Montebello. Reception is open day and night. The hotel says plainly that it cannot receive guests with reduced mobility, and no family room is offered. Its page is a listing on a group portal; no site of its own was found.

At 4 rue Saint-Julien-le-Pauvre, facing the square Viviani. Six room types run from single to quadruple, and the hotel presents five of them with a view of Notre-Dame. One star, a seventeenth-century building by its account, and a site that says nothing about a lift, air conditioning or breakfast.
★★ 2-star hotel · Atout France classification of 15 March 2023
Metro 4, RER B, RER C 4 RER B C Saint-Michel Notre-Dame · 1 min walk Line 4: station closed through 19 December 2026 (works)
Metro 4 4 Cité · 4 min walk
28 rue de la Huchette, 75005 Paris · 42 rooms
Two stars at 28 rue de la Huchette, a minute from Saint-Michel Notre-Dame. The hotel calls itself a historic family house, with a picturesque lift. A quadruple room of 22 m² and two triple categories suit small groups, and the street is busy; the hotel itself suggests a courtyard room for sleep.

Metro RER B RER B Port Royal · 2 min walk
39 rue Pierre-Nicole, 75005 Paris · 33 rooms
On the south edge of the arrondissement, two minutes from Port-Royal RER station and close to the Cochin hospital, which the hotel highlights for early appointments. Traditional keys are left at reception at each exit. There is no air conditioning, only a fan in each room, and wheelchair users cannot be received.

A two-star family house at 48 boulevard de Port-Royal. All 36 rooms are soundproofed and have a bathroom with bath or shower, on the boulevard or the courtyard. Triples exist, as do a baby cot and a night porter. Les Gobelins and Censier-Daubenton are each about seven minutes away.

Metro 7 7 Les Gobelins · 3 min walk
Metro 7 7 Censier-Daubenton · 6 min walk
8 boulevard de Port-Royal, 75005 Paris · 43 rooms
The farthest from the Panthéon, about 1,400 metres. Two categories coexist, rooms with a private bathroom and economy rooms with a washbasin and coin-operated shared showers. There is no television, a choice the hotel presents as peace and quiet. Les Gobelins metro is three minutes away.
This is not a selection but a census. We took the 82 open hotels of the 5th arrondissement in our base and kept all those classified one or two stars by Atout France, the national agency that grades hotels, in its register of 4 October 2026: nine hotels. We call them cheap because they fall in our lowest price band, an estimate from the official category, as we publish no room rates. The hotels are ranked by walking distance to the Panthéon, calculated from the coordinates of both and estimated as the straight line multiplied by 1.3, rounded to 50 metres.
The Panthéon is a reference point rather than a recommendation: it sits at the centre of the arrondissement, and the nine hotels range from 450 metres to 1,400 metres from it. Three-star hotels are excluded even where they are modest. For the Latin Quarter as a whole, a separate list will cover budget hotels in the Latin Quarter.
What a low price band means here
Two stars mean fewer services, not fewer facts. Of the nine, only Mont-Blanc mentions air conditioning, while Pierre Nicole states that it has none. The Hôtel Port-Royal, for one, sells rooms with a washbasin and shared showers. Read each note above before booking: the differences between the nine are larger than the star count suggests.
Where the nine stand
Around the Panthéon and Luxembourg: Du Brésil, 450 metres from the Panthéon, and, on the Port-Royal side, Pierre Nicole, 1,150 metres away. See also hotels near the Panthéon.
Maubert and the quays: Marignan and Les Degrés de Notre Dame, nearest to Maubert-Mutualité on line 10, and Esmeralda, nearest to Saint-Michel Notre-Dame, all close to Notre-Dame. See hotels near Notre-Dame.
The city tax is small but real: €2.60 per adult and night in a one-star hotel and €3.25 in a two-star hotel, collected by the hotel, with guests under 18 exempt (City of Paris scale, 1 January 2026). Breakfast and other services are priced on each hotel’s own site, not in our data.
Frequently asked questions
How many cheap hotels are there in the 5th arrondissement?
Nine of the 82 open hotels in our base fall in the lowest price band (€), which we estimate from the official category. Three are classified one star and six two stars. The list above is complete.
Are the cheapest hotels of the 5th near a metro station?
Yes, all nine are within seven minutes' walk of one, according to our data. Mont-Blanc and Esmeralda are close to Saint-Michel Notre-Dame, Marignan and Les Degrés de Notre Dame to Maubert-Mutualité, Familia to Cardinal Lemoine, and Sunny and Port-Royal to Les Gobelins and Censier-Daubenton, Du Brésil to Luxembourg and Pierre Nicole to Port-Royal.
Does a cheap hotel in the 5th arrondissement include breakfast?
Only the Hôtel Marignan states that breakfast is included in its rate. For several of the others our data lists a separate charge, and for the Esmeralda it records nothing about breakfast. Room rates move nightly, so none is quoted.
Which of them suit a family of four?
Four hotels in the list offer a room for four: Esmeralda, Marignan and Mont-Blanc have quadruples, and Du Brésil a quadruple on its top floor. Marignan also has five-person rooms, and Sunny, Familia and Mont-Blanc have triples.
Is there a cheap hotel in the 5th with a lift for wheelchair users?
Two hotels state something on the subject. Sunny describes a large adapted room, and Familia mentions a room equipped for reduced mobility in its footer, without describing it. Les Degrés de Notre Dame says it cannot receive guests with reduced mobility, and Pierre Nicole excludes wheelchairs.
