Latin Quarter Hotels
The booksellers' stalls on the Seine quays, not far from rue Dauphine; the picture shows the area, not the hotel

On the line between two quarters

The Hôtel d’Aubusson is at 33 rue Dauphine, on the eastern side of the street, in the Saint-André-des-Arts block of the 6th arrondissement. It is an honest border case: rue Dauphine separates the Latin Quarter fringe from Saint-Germain-des-Prés, and the hotel stands just on the Latin Quarter side. Odéon (lines 4 and 10) is four minutes away on foot, Saint-Michel Notre-Dame five and Mabillon six. Atout France classified it five stars on 23 August 2021, for 50 rooms; its own site now counts 44 rooms and suites since the 2026 redesign, and we keep the official figure.

Pool, bar and patio

The wellness area spreads over 400 m². Its pool measures 20 by 4.5 metres, which the hotel presents as one of the largest in a Paris hotel, and it adds a sauna, hammam, Scandinavian shower, ice fountain, balneotherapy bench and a cabin for treatments, with a gym open day and night. A planted patio stays open all year.

Café Laurent is the bar, open from 16:30 to midnight, with jazz on Wednesday to Saturday evenings and a short menu. The hotel states plainly that it has no restaurant, which is the main limit for a five-star; room service runs day and night. Rooms are air-conditioned individually, two Superior rooms are adapted for reduced mobility, and suites and the Duplex Loft take up to four, with no communicating rooms. Pets up to 15 kg are accepted.

History and decor

The hotel says that its main building is of the 17th century and was first called Hôtel de Mouy, with beams, a Versailles parquet and a stone fireplace; it adds that the name Grand Hôtel d’Aubusson is on record from 1901. We have not matched that name to a heritage record at number 33, so the claim stays the hotel’s. The decor is new: the 2026 redesign was conceived by Bruno Borrione.

Against the other five-stars

On this side of the river the nearest comparison is the Relais Christine, also five stars, with 48 rooms, a Guerlain spa and a garage but no bar served by staff. The Maison Colbert, five stars with 39 rooms, has a restaurant and a bar, and sits on the Maubert side. The Aubusson is the only one of the three whose data lists a pool. Our page on hotels with a spa or pool and the guide to the hotels on the Odéon side put them side by side.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Hôtel d'Aubusson in the Latin Quarter or in Saint-Germain?

On the line between the two. It stands at 33 rue Dauphine, on the odd, eastern side, in the Saint-André-des-Arts block of the 6th arrondissement; rue Dauphine forms the boundary with Saint-Germain-des-Prés, and the opposite side of the street is counted as Saint-Germain.

Does the Hôtel d'Aubusson have a swimming pool?

Yes, a pool of 20 x 4.5 metres within a 400 m² wellness area, with a sauna, hammam, Scandinavian shower, ice fountain, balneotherapy bench and a treatment room.

Does it have a restaurant?

No; the hotel says so. Café Laurent is a bar, open from 16:30 to midnight, with a short menu of spreads, caviar and foie gras. Room service runs round the clock.

Is the hotel a former Hôtel de Mouy?

The hotel says so. No heritage listing at 33 rue Dauphine confirms it, so we pass it on as the hotel's own account.

What should one take from the Hôtel d'Aubusson's facts?

On checked facts: the pool, the jazz bar, the patio and the five stars weigh for it; the absence of a restaurant and of parking on site weigh against it.
