Rue Saint-André-des-Arts, on the Saint-Germain side

Hôtel Eugénie is at no. 31 rue Saint-André-des-Arts, about 100 metres from place Saint-Michel. The street lies in the 6th arrondissement, on the border between the Latin Quarter and Saint-Germain. The national register kept by Atout France records three stars, granted on 8 February 2023, for 28 rooms. The hotel’s website calls it a “Boutique Hôtel 3 étoiles”. It is independent, with no chain or group behind it.

Rooms and services

Rooms have individual reversible air conditioning, and the family option is the Superior Triple of 16 m² for three. The buffet breakfast is carried up to the room without charge if guests ask. Reception is staffed 24 hours a day in seven languages. A prefectural exemption means the building is not accessible to wheelchair users; pets are refused; there is no bar, restaurant or car park.

Place Saint-Michel and the lanes behind it

On our walking estimates, place Saint-Michel is two minutes away, the Musée de Cluny five, the square in front of Notre-Dame eight, the Collège de France and the Sorbonne about nine.

The lanes around rue Gît-le-Cœur hold several small hotels a minute away. The Hôtel Le Clos Notre Dame (three stars, 16 rooms) stands at nos. 20–22 rue de l’Hirondelle, the address of the hôtel dit de la Salamandre, attributed to François I according to Wikipedia; the Relais Hôtel du Vieux Paris (four stars, 19 rooms) is the former “Beat Hotel”, where Ginsberg and Burroughs stayed from 1956–57, according to Wikipedia. The three-star Hôtel Résidence des Arts has only 11 rooms but suites for up to six. Two minutes away on rue Serpente, the Hôtel du Lys has 23 rooms; across boulevard Saint-Michel, the Hôtel Albe Saint-Michel is about 100 metres from the Saint-Michel Notre-Dame station.
