A small four-star on rue du Sommerard
The Jardin de Cluny is at no. 9 rue du Sommerard, in the 5th arrondissement, between place Maubert, two minutes away, and the Musée de Cluny, four. Atout France, the government agency in charge of hotel classification, gave it four stars on 30 March 2022, for 40 rooms. The register spells the name “Le Jardin de Cluny”; the hotel’s website drops the article.
The hotel is independent and its website shows no chain or group.
Rooms, equipment and gaps
The hotel presents itself as a house of 40 rooms and a suite, decorated around plants: patterned wallpapers, rattan, caning. Each room lists a minibar, a safe, a television, wi-fi and a tray for tea and coffee. The top category is the Junior Suite, 27 m² under the roof, which looks across the Paris rooftops and pairs a 180 cm bed with a 160 cm sofa bed.
The website is just as clear about what it does not do. It states that the hotel is not accessible to people with reduced mobility. No bar, restaurant, car park or pet policy is mentioned, and air conditioning does not appear in any room description. There is no triple or family category. Since 2008, according to the hotel, it has tracked its energy and water use every month and bought eco-labelled, organic and fair-trade supplies.
Its neighbours on the street
In a straight line, the Collège de France is about 65 metres away, the Musée de Cluny 255, the Sorbonne 300, the Panthéon 400 and the parvis of Notre-Dame 405. Line 10 stops at Maubert-Mutualité, 150 metres away, and at Cluny-La Sorbonne, 300 metres; Saint-Michel Notre-Dame, 450 metres away, serves RER lines B and C (its line 4 platforms are closed until 19 December 2026).
Many hotels stand close by. A few doors along, the Home Latin Hotel, a three-star with 54 rooms, offers a family room for four. Seven four-star hotels stand within about 200 metres on foot, including the Mercure at no. 20 of the same street (47 rooms, with a bar) and Hôtel Les Bulles de Paris on rue des Écoles (44 rooms, with a spa and a bar). The eight range from 29 to 59 rooms, with 40 for the Jardin de Cluny, and it is the only one whose website lists none of the facilities we track — air conditioning, spa, bar, family or adapted rooms. Its case rests on its décor and its address rather than on listed services.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Hôtel Jardin de Cluny accessible to wheelchair users?
No. Its website says the hotel is not accessible to people with reduced mobility. Two four-star neighbours, Villa Panthéon and Hôtel Les Bulles de Paris, both within about 150 metres, list adapted rooms.
Does the Hôtel Jardin de Cluny have air conditioning?
The room equipment lists a minibar, a safe, a television, wi-fi and a tea and coffee tray, but never air conditioning. We could not confirm it either way.
Can three people share a room at the Hôtel Jardin de Cluny?
No triple or family room is listed. The Junior Suite has a 180 cm bed and a 160 cm sofa bed, but the hotel does not state how many guests it takes, so ask before booking for three.
What does our Hôtel Jardin de Cluny review conclude?
We give no score and reproduce no guest opinions. On the facts, the address and the botanical décor are its assets; the limits are the absence of any adapted room, of a stated air-conditioning system and of family rooms.
Which stations serve the Hôtel Jardin de Cluny?
Maubert-Mutualité, on line 10, is the closest at about 150 metres. Cluny-La Sorbonne, also line 10, is 300 metres away, and Saint-Michel Notre-Dame, for the RER B and C (line 4 is closed there until 19 December 2026), about 450.
