Rue Saint-Jacques, opposite the Sorbonne side

The Korner Sorbonne is at no. 73 rue Saint-Jacques, on the odd-numbered side of the street, between the boulevard Saint-Germain and rue des Écoles. The Sorbonne is across the road; this side of rue Saint-Jacques is why we file the hotel with the Maubert and Notre-Dame area rather than the Sorbonne one. The address is in the 5th arrondissement, the Left Bank district that most visitors call the Latin Quarter.

It has 21 rooms and three stars — the official grade awarded by Atout France, a public agency, here since September 2025. It belongs to Korner Hotels, whose concept the hotel shares with the group’s other addresses. The group describes itself as a DAO, a horizontal organisation in which its staff, called “Hosts”, vote on decisions.

A phone instead of a key

The Korner idea is to remove the front desk routine: booking, check-in, check-out and opening the room door all happen from the guest’s smartphone, while a host remains on site day and night. Rooms are air-conditioned and, according to the group, fitted with blackout blinds and Akupanel acoustic panels against street noise. The largest is a 25 m² triple with a double and a single bed; there is nothing for four.

Shared space is limited to the “Espace Korner” lounge, meant for relaxing or working, and a breakfast built on fresh, local produce. There is no bar or restaurant, and the website is silent on access for guests with reduced mobility, on pets and on parking. The decoration follows the brand’s common concept rather than a design specific to this address.

Metro and RER within four minutes, and the neighbours

Cluny-La Sorbonne (line 10) is about three minutes away, and Maubert-Mutualité (line 10) and Saint-Michel Notre-Dame (RER B and C; line 4 is closed there until 19 December 2026) about four. By our coordinates the Collège de France is about 85 metres away, the Musée de Cluny 155, the place Maubert 240 and the Panthéon 400.

Many hotels stand within 250 metres. The Mercure Paris Notre-Dame, a four-star with 47 rooms and a bar open until 1 a.m., is about 65 metres away, and the Mercure Paris La Sorbonne, under the same brand, about 165 metres. Among three-stars, Hôtel Collège de France, independent and “family” since 1981 by its own account, offers a family room for up to five; the Hôtel Le Home Latin has a family room for four; and the Hôtel Claude Bernard Saint-Germain, on rue des Écoles, has an accessible triple room and quadruples, with pets accepted on request.

Frequently asked questions

Hotel Korner Sorbonne review — who will like it?

Guests who value transport and, as the group describes it, sound insulation over in-house services. Line 10 and the RER B and C are within four minutes, rooms have acoustic panels and blackout blinds, and everything runs from your phone; on the other hand there is no bar, no restaurant and no room for four.

Is “Hotel Sorbonne Korner” the same hotel?

Yes. The official name is Hôtel Korner Sorbonne, at 73 rue Saint-Jacques in the 5th arrondissement, classified three stars by Atout France on 18 September 2025.

Do I need a key?

No. Room access is keyless and handled through your phone, as are check-in and check-out; a host is nevertheless present 24 hours a day.

Can a family stay at the Korner Sorbonne?

Up to three people, in the 25 m² triple with a double and a single bed. For four, Hôtel Le Home Latin (about 80 metres away) and Hôtel Collège de France (about 70) list family rooms.
