A listed house on rue de l’Odéon

The Odéon Hôtel is at 3 rue de l’Odéon, in the 6th arrondissement, between the Odéon crossroads and the theatre. It sits on the border between the Latin Quarter and Saint-Germain, and the metro is close: Odéon (lines 4 and 10) is about 150 m away, two minutes, Mabillon (line 10) five and Saint-Michel Notre-Dame (line 4, RER B and RER C) six.

Atout France classified it three stars on 5 July 2024, for 35 rooms. The Mérimée heritage database dates the building to the 18th century and lists its street façade and roof as a historic monument since 2 May 1947. The street itself was cut through in 1779 on the site of the Hôtel de Condé and, says Wikipedia, was one of the first in France to get pavements. The hotel belongs to a group called Paris Hotels Charm, whose own page lists several other Paris hotels.

Rooms and services

The decoration is the hotel’s pitch. Standard rooms are hung with silk damask in an 18th-century pattern, Deluxe rooms with blue Créations Métaphores tapestries, and the top-floor Junior Suite follows the pink wall-hanging look of Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette, with a view over the roofs towards the Eiffel Tower. All rooms are air-conditioned and soundproofed, according to the hotel, and a concierge is on duty round the clock; babysitting and in-room massage are arranged through outside providers. A continental breakfast is served in the ground-floor lounge, and from 11 the breakfast room can be used for remote work. Deluxe rooms take two or three people; no family or triple category is described. The hotel says it has no room adapted to reduced mobility, and it mentions no restaurant, bar, spa or parking.

Against the neighbours

The Michelet Odéon, three stars and 42 rooms on place de l’Odéon, has the family rooms this house lacks. The Relais Saint-Germain, four stars and 22 rooms, stands on the crossroads and has a bistro. The Delavigne has 34 rooms, close to the Odéon Hôtel’s 35. Our hotels near Odéon lays out the block.

Frequently asked questions

No. Several hotels carry Odéon in their name. This one is on rue de l'Odéon, with 35 rooms; the Michelet Odéon is on the square, with 42.

Is the building really historic?

Yes. Its street façade and roof are listed as a historic monument, since 2 May 1947 (Mérimée record PA00088608), and the record dates the house to the 18th century.

Does the hotel accept wheelchair users?

The hotel says it has no room adapted to reduced mobility. We would ask before booking about the lift and stairs.

What should I weigh in an Odéon Hôtel review?

We publish no score and no quotes. The listed house, the metro two minutes away and the printed fabrics count for it; no bar, no adapted room and no family category count against it.
