A cul-de-sac south of the place Maubert

The Résidence Henri IV is at no. 50 rue des Bernardins, at the end of a cul-de-sac near the square Paul-Langevin, just south of the place Maubert. The address belongs to the 5th arrondissement, one of the twenty administrative districts that number Paris. The hotel describes its building as a 19th-century Parisian house backing onto the former École polytechnique and facing a park, which several rooms look onto; we found no independent record to confirm the date.

It has 13 rooms and was classified four stars in January 2022 by Atout France, the state agency that classifies French hotels. It belongs to Paris Hotels & Spa, a family group of three hotels that includes the Hôtel & Spa Saint-Jacques, a two-minute walk away on rue des Écoles.

Kitchenettes in every room

The defining feature is practical: every room, apartments included, has a kitchenette with a microwave, a fridge and a hob. Five of the 13 units are apartments; the Apartment category takes up to four people and the Family Room up to six. Rooms are air-conditioned and themed, according to the hotel, around figures from the circle of Henri IV.

Wellness is modest but real: a hammam with a themed shower, open from 8.30 a.m. to 11 p.m., and massages booked in the room. The lounge has a fireplace and stays open day and night; the hotel invites guests to take a glass of wine there, but there is no bar service and no restaurant. The hotel does not take guests with reduced mobility, does not accept pets and does not mention parking.

Maubert, the Panthéon, and the four-stars around

Maubert-Mutualité and Cardinal Lemoine, both on line 10, are about four minutes on foot. For the RER B and C, Saint-Michel Notre-Dame is about nine minutes away; its line 4 stop is closed until 19 December 2026. The place Maubert and the Collège de France are four minutes away, the Panthéon five, the place de la Contrescarpe seven.

Six other four-stars lie within 200 metres on foot. La Lanterne & Spa, 150 metres away, has 42 rooms and a heated indoor pool; Hôtel Atmosphères, at 31 rue des Écoles, has a sauna and fitness room and accepts pets. One category down, the Paris Art Hotel, a three-star decorated by Paul Salas, is about 350 metres away at no. 1 rue des Écoles.
