A new name on rue Racine
The Hôtel du Savoir is at 1 rue Racine, on the corner of boulevard Saint-Michel, in the 6th arrondissement fringe. It opened in March 2025 as part of the Madeho group, according to the trade press, and is the old Hôtel Petit Belloy, converted and renamed; the legal notice on its own site carries the earlier company name. Atout France reclassified it three stars on 24 April 2025, for 20 rooms.
Three stations are close: Cluny–La Sorbonne on line 10 in three minutes, and Odéon (lines 4 and 10) and Saint-Michel Notre-Dame (RER B and C) in four each. Line 4 trains do not stop at Saint-Michel until 19 December 2026, according to the City of Paris works notice.
The decor and the theme
The name is the concept. The hotel builds its decor around knowledge, with motifs inspired by the Sorbonne’s lecture halls, books on shelves and quotations from authors. The trade press credits the interiors to the agency Laune Architecture, in a vintage mood drawn from the 1950s and 1960s; the hotel does not name its designer, so we report it as the press’s credit. The Sorbonne guide covers the university itself.
Rooms and services
The hotel advertises 20 “designer rooms”. Family rooms, placed side by side, sleep four. Air conditioning is listed, and so are pets. The hotel’s pages say little about a bar, a restaurant or parking, and we state none of them.
Among the neighbours
Two other three-stars on the fringe of the 6th: the Hôtel Delavigne has 34 rooms and the Hôtel Michelet Odéon 42, both with air conditioning and family rooms; the Savoir, with 20, is the smallest of the three. The Hôtel Le Régent, a three-star of 25 rooms on rue Dauphine, is about 600 metres away on foot. Our guide to the hotels around the Odéon compares them all.
